    Fear

    The Crippling mandate of fear
States its policies so loud and clear
Announces its presence, it is here to stay!
Conjugated with anxiety, it seeks no approval
    Steals conspicuously without reservation
what have you upon this encounter?
Today, you gave it your sanction

    The overbearing actions of fear
Again today, you made its bed
Linens so soft it lies in wait
Ever so eager to engulf your existence
A safe haven you single-handedly created
It will dance to the tune of your craving
Today you set the stage for its performance

    The ominous nature of fear
    Prevents positive actions
    Promotes negative emotions
Devoid of any physical attributes it looms drearily
Adorned with a static so constant it is deafening
Isolated in despair its insidious being lurks
Today you gave it a physical form.

    The Paralyzing effect of fear
    Tugs away with careless abandon
Its recalcitrant presence a vulgar abuse
Euphoric while you fret in frenzy
    No compunction does it enslave
Today it crept up on you
You left your back door open

    The paradoxical aftermath of fear
Its supposed exit an echo of its journey
A memento you banked for so long
Yet could not wait to be rid off
The final exit a fear in itself
It was you all the time.
    A stagnancy you covertly lured
    This time it conquered you!

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
