Why should s/he? Perhaps this is all part of the Great Test. Perhaps we've already failed. Perhaps there is no fail...only academics. Perhaps it's all an illusion and the damage can be brushed away with the wave of a mighty hand. If only we knew the mind of this elusive thing we call god.

Peace.

RE: RE: The Poetic Journalism Forum

Bravo to all, both little and tall, for we have brought it on
these things that are appalling……build me a house….cut down the trees...
Give me freedom……go to war for me….I am too busy playing with my
toy phone...
I want a loaf of bread…..grow the wheat o’er the virgin fields, and bring
me some bacon….spare not the swine….for I need mine…
I’ll have the double burger…slaughter another heifer….they’re penned in,
you know where they ought to be, anyway…...easy, ain’t it ?
I need a glass of water…I don’t care what damn dam you have to build…
erect one on the mighty Miss….it won’t be misst…
Fill ‘er up…my SUV is thirsty, can’t you tell ? I don’t care if you drill all over
the place for that crude…now don’t be rude…no one cares about the brine….
I need my gas-o-line…

AND fREEDOM FOR ALL???

I was asked by my friend Springsize to post this poem here. Injustice reigns supreme in this GREAT country of "ours"..... Azzy

THEY SAY IT IS YOUR RIGHT,
TO LIVE THE WAY YOU WANT.
BUT AS SOON AS YOUR OUT OF SIGHT,
THEY DRAG YOU BACK AGAIN.
FREEDOM OF SPEECH, THEY GIVE TO YOU,
SO YOU TAKE AND START TO TALK.
THEN..YOU CAN'T SAY THAT!!! I GUESS YOU NEVER HEARD.
THEY ALSO SAY, HAPPINESS IS YOURS TO PURSUE,
SO YOU START THE NEVER ENDING CHASE,
BUT THE OPPORTUNITIES, THEY ARE TOO FEW.

SO, I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG,
THAT FLIES UPON THE WIND.
THAT SITS IN OUTER SPACE.
AND THAT SAME FLAG,
SLAPS ME IN THE FACE!

FREEDOM FOR ALL, OR SO THEY SAY
BUT TOE THE LINE BUDDY,
OR YOUR FREEDOM'S TAKEN AWAY.
O'BEAUTIFUL FOR SPACIOUS SKIES...
FILLED WITH AIR POLLUTION.
FOR AMBER WAVES OF GRAIN...
FOR THE FARMERS IT HOLDS NO SOLUTION.
FOR PURPLE MOUNTAINS MAJESTY
STRIP MINED OF ALL HER GLORY!
ABOVE THE FRUITED PLANES,
OIL SPILLS, TOXIC DUMPS, ANOTHER NEWS STORY..

SO I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO A FLAG,
THAT SLAPS ME IN THE FACE
I SWEAR TO PROTECT A COUNTRY,
WHERE MY PEOPLE, HAVE NO PLACE.
NATIVE PEOPLE WHO LOVED MOTHER EARTH
WHO'S FOOTPRINTS WERE THEIR ONLY HARM.
ERADICATED, MURDERED AND SEGREGATED,
SO THE WHITE MAN COULD BUILD A FARM.
A COUNTRY BUILT ON GENOCIDE,
RAISED FROM THE SWEAT OF THE SLAVE.
MORALLY CORRUPTED FOUNDING FATHERS,
WHILE THE MASSES PLAYED THE KNAVE.

I'M NOT UN-PATRIOTIC, JUST ANALYTICAL,
I'M NOT BLIND, NOR EASILY LED, OR ILL BEHAVED.
I'M THE PRODUCT OF A MIXED, SOCIALLY STIGMATIZED RACE
WHO WONDERS IF THIS COUNTRY CAN BE SAVED?????
SO DON'T THINK THAT I DON'T CARE
ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT GOES DOWN.
I CARE TOO MUCH, THINK TOO MUCH,
ABOUT A COUNTRY RUN BY CLOWNS.

RE: The Poetic Journalism Forum

I think I’ve grown a wee bit tired of just about everybody moaning
and groaning about what is wrong with this and what ain’t right
about that. Everybody is griping about our government, our loss of
freedom, oil spills, the homeless, the starving kids in India, and worst
of all, our president. It seems to me that nearly everyone, anymore,
wants to get on the same old bandwagon, wave their flag, yell out
their patriotism, and then go home and text on their toy phones. When
there is something that happens, no matter where or what, those same
flag-waving consumers, are there to holler, “They” only care about
getting rich….and who are “they” ? “They” are us….we are the ones
begging for the products that companies crank out by using “our”
natural resources. “We” don’t have faith in our government…our
government that we elected because “they/we” gave us our right to
vote. I wish all those people out there would stop with
all the negative things and start thanking someone --
For that someone might just be your own brother/sister/Mom/Dad

You have spoken Gospel truth, My Sister!, and so powerfully and dynamically poetic.

This stanza is tremendously perfect. I love this poem for a whole ream of reasons. Selah! Thanks for a disturbing and truthfully conscientious read,
But hardness of heart, a deaf ear, sleight of hand and lack of humanity are intrinsic attributes of the power game.

RE: The Poetic Journalism Forum; READERSHIP.

November 3, 2010

Dear Suspense,

We don't seem to be building a comfortable readership to continue thie Poetic Journalism Forum. I am wondering what are we doing wrong, why this Forum is not being read. I need your comment. I am not a member of the "Give-up- Back-down- Retreat Club, but am at a loss as to what more we ought to do to keep Poetic Journalism vibrant and alive.

It would be to the benefit of all of us if OP members read, subscribe items and offer suggestions regarding what they want to appear on this forum.

I defend your right to right as you will.
Unpopular criticism makes real poets famous.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
