    Gone

    I walked a mile with pleasure,
    She chattered all the way.
    I was left none the wiser,
    for all she had to say.

    I walked a mile with sorrow,
    and never a word said she;
    But, oh the things I learned from her
    when sorrow walked with me.

    I walked a mile with happiness,
    blessed to know I could;
    And never a day goes by when
    sorrow was how I stood.

    I walk today and for ever more,
    missing you and my life will never be the same.
    But as I wake day to day with each new
    rising sun; I know you will be right here
    in my heart, even when the day is done.

    My tears will beckon at my door at times I will not know;
    but when they do I will walk with them and let them flow,
    I'll never push them away.
    They may be tears of pleasure, memories of you and me, perhaps a lil' sorrow mixed joyfully.
    And I will walk with them till we are together again someday.

    How is it up there in heaven Dad?
