    Grass Stains.

No longer baking in the suns burning rays,

The grass is crying, thankful for night.

Beaten and downtrodden by children at play,

The coming of evening is a much welcome sight .

The grass is crying, thankful for night.

A time to refresh and return, moistened with dew,

The coming of evening is a much welcome sight,

in order to give it a time to renew.

A time to refresh and return, moistened with dew,

The children sleep well in their warm  little beds.

Their minds are crammed with visions of Crusoe and crew.

They dream of the adventures that still lay ahead.

The children sleep well In their snug little bed.

The grass is sighing, thankful for night.

No fear of the adventures that still lay ahead,

And no longer baking in the suns burning rays.

The author paints a enduring image in the heads of readers like me. The poem reads easily but this does not mean it is without dense meaning and messages. The scene is set for us with "suns burning rays" and the coolness of night and then while seeming to forget the baking rays we are given respite in the cool of evening. and then we are introduced to the happy children and a refreshing of the bread. Then we are offered to see the children in their soft warm beds dreaming of Crusoe and those adventures and the hope of things that lay ahead. Even the grass is welcoming the future and thankful for it. This work is one that a person, aged or no, would enjoy reading again and again.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
