HAPPINESS - TODAY

Happiness - now what is that
That I now seldom find
My life today seems just so flat
Is tht my fate assigned

I'll not complain of all that's wrong
Though I surely know how.
But what's the joy for which I long
That I might realize now

Count your blessings, it is said
Because you have so many
But as I lay here on my bed
It's hard to think of any

There's one thing that I've desired
For oh so many days
 just want to be retired
And free in so many ways

Till then I'll just stay busy
Though these times are drear
This life can put one in a tizzy
There's no real happiness i fear

I just want to feel accepted
For me, that's real joy
Too often Ijust feel rejected
Like when I wa a little boy

To know you approve of all of me
That's all I ask of you
Like me in my entirety
And my happiness will ensue

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
