I'm still here
today is the day I earn my respect
throw my head up and shoulders back
feel the fire inside
rise and rise and rise and rise
tired of being scrutinized
for my opinions
chastised when simply speaking my mind
why didn't I realize
the eyes
that judge me
aren't from he
the he who wakes me
heals me, truly loves me
carries me through the storm
when I can't carry myself
on my knees it's his hands I felt
his love whips my tears
eases my fears
searching my past
only one set of footprints appear
throw my head up and shoulders back
feel the fire inside
rise and rise and rise and rise
tired of being scrutinized
for my opinions
chastised when simply speaking my mind
why didn't I realize
the eyes
that judge me
aren't from he
the he who wakes me
heals me, truly loves me
carries me through the storm
when I can't carry myself
on my knees it's his hands I felt
his love whips my tears
eases my fears
searching my past
only one set of footprints appear
