    Poem Commentary

This Prayer is my version of "The LORD'S Prayer" from Matthew 6: 9 - 13

    Heavenly Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, creator of all things.
Holy is YOUR name always, and YOUR praises we do sing.
Forgive us of our debts, Oh LORD, please be our perfect guide.
To lead us from temptation, and stay right by our side.
YOUR will be done in all the earth, from beginning to the end.
YOU reign with Love and Power and YOU suffered for our sins.
O Giver of each perfect gift, this day our daily bread supply.
While tranquil in YOUR spirit, our joy is full from THY.
There is no one above YOU, none other can compare.
For YOURS is the Power & Glory, forever here and there.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
