Poem Commentary

I was listening to some song on spotify about a woman who got abused, and this came to my head. Its not much but there's power in this short poem.

Her Pain...

When I needed you, you were not there.
When I cried for you, you did not care.
You took my heart and crushed it, how could you dare?
I thought I trusted you, I  thought this was real.
I guess instead it was just for a thrill.
Now im broken and running away.
I hear you yelling to please stay.
You say you'll change and wont do it again,
but this is a battle you will not win.
I tried and tried but couldnt stand it.
I want to be loved...I demand it!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
