I Am from an Ancient Place

I am from an ancient plain

Where a kiss meant sacks of grain

And man does not as he pleases

Yet, wills to wait amidst an ancient plain for promised kisses

I am from an ancient crevice

    Carved by force to respect

    Old men’s Fleeces

And I rise from ancient skies

With scarred wings that bid me to fly

    To that ancient sky

So I can hide myself when I cry

I am from an ancient place

Once so alive, now only in my mind

Alive so much under starry night

This poem is wonderful. It allow me to feel, what I believe to be your meaning that Man is not as he should or use to be, but these are the things that you value. Trevon

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
