I am from?
I am from a stream of fake acceptance, while at the same time a sea of loneliness, doomed to be outcast from society. I am from being the loneliest person alive, and the funny thing is I am never alone. I am from loving deeply and truly, while never truly being loved back. I am from being the girl next door, the one who is everybody's friend, and no one's love. I am from a universe where the laws are clearly defined, so why am I so confused? I am from freedom of speech, yet I am not free to say what I want. I am from teachers who are supposed to help me learn, so why do they only yell at me for what I do not know? I am from giving respect, so why don't I receive any in return? I am from a well of truth in the center of the kingdom of lies. I am from wearing all black, yet more often than not, I am told that I am the only source of light for a person in need. I am from a world that refuses to offer it's help to those who need it, but I offer my help to everyone no matter what the problem is. I am from a galaxy of darkness, but I am guided by the light of the moon and the stars, and one day, I will find the sun. I am from the land of the free, yet slavery is found within these borders, often not in the form we expect. I am from the home of the brave, yet so many people are too scared to admit fault, afraid of rejection from a person or persons. I am from reading, writing, poetry, and music, yet I am scorned upon for showing what I truly feel through these means of expression, and for merely expressing myself at all. I am from insanity and abuse, forced to lock myself in my room and write or sing or listen or read in order to keep myself safe, sane, alive, free from suicidal thoughts, and free from the laws of the world. I am from constant death, every day realizing just how lucky I am to be alive. I am from beautiful lands, spacious skies, and amber waves of grain, as well as purple mountain majesties above the fruited plains, wishing people would see the beauty they are surrounded by, instead of cutting it down and rolling over it for shopping malls. I am from 'In God We Trust,' so why am I frowned upon and given dirty looks for trusting in God and following my religion? I am from everywhere, yet also from nowhere at all. I am from being meant to be big, wild, crazy and free. I am from being meant to be me.I am from?

Poem Commentary
This poem is about how I have been feeling lately. And by lately I mean for the past several years. Don't worry, I'm fine, this is what keeps me from being screwed up. This is straight from the heart though. This style of poetry was introduced to me last year at my school in 6th grade by an author named Kirby Larson (author of 'Hattie Big Sky' and several others) who gave me encouragement and enthusiasm, as well as a signed copy of her book, 'Hattie Big Sky.'
