    I Dared

    I Dared

I dared to ride the pulsing tide
    of my feelings
    alive not numbed
here in this body I’ve felt the cold steel
    of love lost
as it slashed at my heart

Turning my television to the wall
    I journeyed down
into the darkness I had refused to face
    for all those years

    I cried with the rain
for the pain of the earth
I howled with the ghosts of the timber wolves
    long gone from this place
I felt the ache of those I had hurt
    before I began to awake

I dared to feel the cold hard steel of my feelings
no drugs, no drink, no TV
Just a cabin by the river
    nature, wind and me

I dared to feel the cold hard steel of my feelings...
    Daring thus to live...
    gave me my life back

Very empowering. Not many people can sense the meaning in this poem. Great title, terrific wording. Less is better. :)

    Very Good!

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
