    Ice-Cold Tyrant

    I watch through brimming tears
    As mockingbirds take wing.
    My salty tears burst forth
As the birds start to sing.

    I can't believe I loved you,
    You had an ice-cold heart.
You didn't care for me at all,
    You tore my heart apart.

    You don't seem to notice,
As you toyed with my feelings.
Played with me like a cat would a rat,
Then left me with my heart bleeding.

How could I have loved you?
I now see who you are.
    A tyrant with no feelings,
    Heart locked with ice bars.

I thought that I was the key
    To free your imprisoned heart.
I know now that I was wrong,
Your hate hit me like a dart.

Now you're gone, but I'm sad.
    I can't believe how I feel.
Since you are gone, I should be happy,
Yet I feel I'm going to reel.

This shows my love for you is strong,
No matter how you treated me.
I loved you then and I still do.
But our love can never be.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
