Poem Commentary

A midnight thought I added the second part written 3 months later

IF~ A MIDNIGHT THOUGHT

If I called you and you answered what would I say
If I saw you and you came to me would I just walk away
If you saw me and I not you would you turn the other away
My heart wants to know if this love is true or are we actors for a day
as we stand upon the dance floor and our song begins to play
will we look into each others eyes and let our bodies sway
or do we both look away as though just a memory of love gone astray
a lonely little melody of hearts in pure dismay.
What if I called and heard a love song in my ear
What if the words I spoke to you were what you'd want to hear
What if I was so brave to venture beyond the walls of fear
where the chambers of my heart are no longer blinded by my tears
and you so bold so debonaire draw close to me don't fear
for I have waited as you have our wedding day is here.
If2 by the cold wind of the night
If by the sun in the morning light
If I cried would you treat me right
If I died would you get wings for the flight or perhaps shiver and shrink in shadows
of the abyss a never ending plight
Your bigest fear to face head on or your joy released like the song birds song
If there is no beginning there can be no end
If I am here now will I be here again
If this is a one shot deal can I be the spinner of the wheel
