    Im From

    Im from chicken coops
    and pecan trees
    I am from riding mowers
and running wild in the fields
    I am from picking flowers
    and lots of laughter
    I am from locked doors
    and different beds
    I am from unknown faces
    and tears
I am from apple pies and
    homemade candy
    Im from bonfires
and swimming in ponds to keep cool
I am from running with the dogs
    Im from hiding from sirens
I am from dirt roads leading to
    tonights home
    I am from second chances
    and a better home
    I am from Tweety Bird
    and the color blue
    Im from secrets
    and never knowing the truth
    Im from the wooded areas
    and hide and seek days.
    I am from 1992

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
