In The Mirror

In the mirror, I see a face,
Smiling, laughing, saying grace.
She seems so happy, satisfied.
Peaceful, joyful, gratified.
But the smile is false,
The laughter is hollow.
Her eyes are as sad
As the next day to follow.
She weeps in her room,
Plasters masks in the day,
And she isn't as joyful
As she will say.
She sits on the beach,
Thinking of the one she loves,
Who stole her heart,
And took her love.
'Woe is me! Woe!' she cries,
'I would not live, I'd rather die!
Woe is me! Woe is me!'
Her gladness was washed
Away by the sea.
