    Jazmin

may 22 was a day like no other
it was the birth of my first sister
weighting in at 7 pounds 4 ounces
    her name jazmin
    her smile unique
    her eyes gazed through mines
    and that's when i realized
my life had a meaning a purpose

it took a few days for her to arrive at her new home
and i wonder i though will she and i be friends
at the age of 12 i was no longer alone
    my usual thoughts and friends
    were no longer important
my newborn sister had taken over
she made me feel warm inside
as i fed her and put her to sleep
    i watched her cry
    i watcher her grow
    her first steps showed me
    the road to freedom

    and as the years pass
my love for her became unconditional
her sweet tender voice made me emotional
hearing her speak telling me how much she loves me
over the phone when i was away
brought tears to my eyes in disguise
it was beautiful it was nice
    my mother gave birth
    but my sister gave me
    new life

i' am now more mature and caring
    more respectful more graceful
    responsible all thanks to jazmin
    she makes the days brighter
    and the nights warmer
and someday she'll know the feeling
the feeling that i' am feeling
every time i see her smile
