    Lady In The Tower

Like a knight who is scaling a tower For the damsel in distress You have no doors that are open Only walls that seem to compress They compress as I lay here beside you They compress as I touch your soft skin They compress as you get up and smile Yet they still won’t let me in You state that your fear is the cause for the tower And an entrance does truly exist But your walls bar the entrance and have me confused Should I kiss you or wait to be kissed How do I reach you-----Oh Lady in the tower When the bricks have been so carefully rearranged Do I patiently wait in this garden of roses Or watch as my armor rusts in the rain My call as a knight compels me To be honorable, chivalrous and true But my patience is like that of a woman in love Desperation will finally push through.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
