Last Days

Everything living is spinning toward extinction
Looking for an end to everything high
All of humanity on the brink of devastation
Brush away all existence with one brutal scythe

Rigorously pursuing sick carnal infatuations
‘Big Bang’ attempts, experiments to disprove a living God
Compromisingly watering down Biblical interpretations
Giving the people what they want and the activists applaud

Daily dwelling in a state of cruel trepidation
The pathway the earth shall take has long been foretold
Ignorance precipitates a mass indignation
Aimlessly disdaining the prophets of old

Haughtily the high minded spew forth prideful inundations
Humanistic mediocrities and blasphemous lies
From the pulpit of piety puppeteering manipulations
Blood stained hands controlling legalistic lives

Hungrily the money mongrels proliferate inflation
Fueling fears of citizens to satisfy corporate greed
Filling our tanks instead of our bellies with our food at the filling stations
Pinching pennies from emptied pocketbooks leaving our families to bleed

The whole world is seared without declaration
Vanishing suddenly in the blink of an eye
Blinded by the lights of the bombs of every nation
Where will you be living after everything has died?

Thankfully we born again have cause for jubilation
Those of us who boldly say our Lord is Jesus Christ
Patiently awaiting in most earnest expectation
Fulfillment of the promise made, we have eternal life

Wow...this was powerful..im kind of speechless. There was much meaning here wiether i was able to pick up on it all is undecided i really like the last stanza and i agree..this was phenomenal

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
