    Leaders in a Lost World

Where is the sound of the breeze blowing?
    Birds singing low and high
Children playing in the fields and meadows
Lovers laughing on a beautiful morning
Where is the sweet song of peace?

Are we the deaf of the world?
Closing our ears to gunshots around us
Filling our mouths with empty excuses
Justifying our inhumane actions as little boys man the front lines
    Are we the deaf?

Are we the blind of the world?
Unable to glimpse the injustice around us
Turning our backs on those who cry out
Who stretch their arms desperately like victims in a capsized boat offshore
    Are we the blind?

Where are the learned of the world?
    Yes the affluent of society!
So much to preach, so much to lead
While the planet crumbles to ruin
    Where are the learned?

very powerful words. i see i'm not alone in my thinking

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
