Lost and Rejected

Lost and rejected, wondering if I will ever find something to call mine.

Something once called out in me to the world waiting for its chance to be unfurled.

I wanted to live and succeed without fail, to forget the things that made me frail.

But I have walked off my beaten path and to hold on to my hopes is to surely to only incur fate’s wrath.

I tell myself that it will all work out but I can’t support this theory without doubt.

I want that path back but there is no sign that says turn here to return to your original track.

Other ways have surely been presented clearly but I am to blind to take them sincerely.

My logic is clear but there is no sound path I can take without fear.

For I don’t have the means or charm to pursue my dream on easier paths without coming to harm.

So I will stay in the dark till wisdom shines upon my life instead of giving up and ending with an

interrupted life .

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
