Love, the Heart of Man

Poem Commentary

I originally had a Latin title for this, but I was unsure if I wrote the correct Latin words. So instead, I put the English translation of the title. If anyone's interested, the original title was "Amor, Cor Hominis."

Love, the Heart of Man

The things that love can do

to one who has no clue,

The things that you can see

when your heart is filled with glee,

are all things that come

when you find you’re in love.

Love deals good to some,

pain to others,

and leaves uncertainty with most.

Oh, how love finds us in many ways!

Love can snake its way through a childhood,

or perhaps even by Facebook.

“Love knows no bounds,” they say.

Will I let distance keep us away?

What would she say?

Is love still love when unrequited?

I shall keep this beast at bay.

Sometimes, love never finds a way.

I like your way of writing poetry/ As you give importance to rhyme/ Many call it forced rhyme wrongly/ As that is one ways of writing/ My only request to every poet/ Is to mingle rhyme and meaning/ So that no criticism can be made/ And rhyme and poetry will flourish/

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
