    Madness

    the fists,
    the rage,
    the anger,
    the yelling,
    it all came flooding back.
    with the hitting and cursing,
it all cause me to fall back into the fiery light
    that had once consumed me.
as i lit it and brought it to my lips, and inhaled,
i felt all the stress and anger and fear
slowly slip away along with the smoke.
the anger and rage was as fiery as the tip of the cigarette.
and then it all ended as soon as it started.
    except for one thing,
    the cigarette still sat there,
    burning between my fingers.
and then, that too, went out.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
