    shadowed reflection

    Saw a reflection of a stranger,

    the sun peaked in through the window

    making me squint my eyes.

    There were no words said,

    none needed; just a simple glare.

    He followed my every move and

    revealed himself from disguise.

    The nature of the moment seized,

    landing us into a confronting stare.

    A tear released itself from it's hidden peak.

    He said,"What have you become?"

    The sorrow began to gather and release

    as he turned and walked away;

    saying once again"What have you become?"

    When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
