    Misty Eye Disease

    Trying to see the light

    Caught this misty eye disease

    Tears put down their stakes

    Threw up circus tents

    Booked an extended stay

Visibility running a balmy 0 percent

Misty eye disease coursing thru my veins

Shrouded in dark and angry pain

This heart filled to the brim

    Precious love left to give

This misty eyed infested heart strives

    In honor though in vain

To convey in eloquently descriptive verse

What lies beneath this shroud of gray

As seen thru this misty eye disease

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
