MLK'S DREAM, OUR LIFE

A dream so strong, it could not be taken away
All memories, still remembered today
Amazing character, it’s like a fairytale
It’s not about how brown, or how pale
It’s all about the heart
And how you do your part.

His words singing our passion, are heard across the land
His hands so strong, that they broke the band
That separated character from personality
And life from reality.

In all sorrow, there wasn’t a loss of hope
In all pain, all to be done was cope
In all fear, all shown was courage
Whether single or in marriage.

For his dream was about our tomorrow and not his today
He would have never given up, even when there seemed to be no way
For his plan of action
Now leaves everyone in satisfaction
His once one day
Is now our today

So I ask you…
Would he be proud of the life you are living?
Whether you're happy, or you're grieving?

I tell you we are flowers just about ready to sprout
What we got to do is stand up and shout
Shout to victory!
Shout to freedom!
Shout to peace!
And shout to prosperity!
For this man’s dream for equality
Has now been made reality.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
