Moon Takes Her Place Each Night (Monchielle Form)

Moon takes her place each night -
    mysterious bright orb.
    Few have escaped her spells,
    as proved over the years.
    In poets’ words she dwells.

Moon takes her place each night -
    bids sleepy Sun adieu.
    Lights up night’s sky so bright;
    together with the stars,
    this lamp provides delight.

Moon takes her place each night -
shines beams down to the earth.
Some use them in their dreams,
    staircases to ascend -
    bathing in lunar streams.

Moon takes her place each night -
    the weary take their rest.
    Selene directs our sleep,
    fueling fantasies.
Harm from our doors she’ll keep.

i love to read works about the moon... this was very enjoyable... nicely done

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
