    Moth to the flame

If I knew then what I know now
    I would've stopped while I was ahead
I knew from the moment I saw you there
that the feelings inside me were shouting beware
The look in your eyes when you spoke my name
flickered with a softness and spoke to my shame
I knew at that moment I was being drawn in
like a moth to a flame..knowing I would never be the same.

Feeling your heat, I was dying to burn
before I could stop myself I started to churn
    Falling into you was easy
    your innocence, your trust
    your danger and your lust
burnt me alive, brought me to life
showed me the meaning of not thinking twice

Now as I sit here alone remembering
feeling the heat on my skin
    I would burn up again
    scream from inside
    give you anything you want
if you would still be mine

What is this rebellion inside my heart
that would hurt me again and burn me in the night
that would take you aside and give you it all
and ask for nothing but to stay with me as I fall

DD, What a swiftly passing burning of night and the moth , the main character who is enraptured here. The sad truth the poet displays makes the reader want a good ending but sadly...No. ginga

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
