  • I might not be where I want to be but at least I'm not where I used to be

My Best Friend

I want you to meet my best friend
I've known him for many a year
And his love for me knows no end
With strength like that who shall I fear?

He's been with me through successes
And in times I was a failure
Whatever problem comes my way
He is by my side with a cure

He accepts me the way I am
That very acceptance makes me
In spite of all of my faults
To want to be all I can be

He laughs with me over mistakes
And weeps with me when I am sad
He's been faithful throughout my life
The best friend a man ever had

His love for me has no limits
Loyal when others turn away
He listens to each of my hurts
And to whatever else I say

One day I'll see him face-to-face
When life on earth for me must end
I hope then that it’s said of me,
"That Jesus Christ was his best friend!"

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
