Poem Commentary

I met a wonderful person on the Internet that I consider my friend. She goes by the name of LeDot64. She loves her brother very much and is losing him to cancer. A sad but every day happening to thousands of loved ones world wide. Her friendship inspired this poem. I am so very sorry for the loss you are about to endure Dorothy.

MY FRIEND

                                     MY FRIEND

You may feel that your life is nearing an end,

But it is only the beginning for you my friend.

You will soar through the air like the birds in the sky,

And be welcomed by angels and Jesus on high.

The doors of eternity will open wide,

While you leave us on earth and step inside.

You will be welcomed through heavens beautiful gates,

It sounds so wonderful I can hardly wait,

To walk with you down streets of gold,

And live among angels where we never grow old.

Please do not fear that marked day ahead,

The soul only sleeps, it is not dead.

Eternity is forever, there is no end,

How exciting it will be, you are lucky my friend.

You will be healed forever and in pain never more,

With the freedom of eagles through heaven you’ll soar,

We will miss you so much once you pass through those gates,

And yet be happy for you as you no longer have to wait,

To hear that beautiful singing and joy without end,

We will see you before long when we join you my friend.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
