Poem Commentary

one of my lighter poems, very childlike and humourous, kinda.

My Hair

A year ago it was to black
inky mess, it was a blast!
Black and tarred, like a racetrack
oh what color's my hair?

six months ago it was real blue
imagine that, i was blue too
it dyed to grey
to make my day
oh what color's my hair?

I bare my hair
for the world to share
twirl around, flip and flare
it's brightly pink like a steak to rare.
Oh what color's my hair?

I'll dye it green,
a nice green sheen
my hair's a rainbow
of color's i mean
oh oh what color's my hair?!?!
as long as it's special I dont care

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
