My Heart Is Broken

And so the tearing keeps tearing and the tears keep going,

Each little rip, makes a snip, a scratch, a clip, a hole

The size of a clove grows into a piece of coal,

The blood is black with flow and hints of red when thin

The emotions fight to win because they debate on how to react from how the story ends

Their mad, pissed, furious

They’re relieved from pain, hurt from opposite

Kindness is implied

For you they think they’ve made a sacrifice

But who and what exactly is the sacrifice

They’ve sacrificed themselves to save you

Or sacrificed you to save themselves

I love you was to easily spoken

When they said it, it left your heart choking

Holding on to those words for dear life

What started out fun soon became an emotional sacrifice.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
