    My Nightmare

    Come along, won't you dare?
Take a ride through my nightmare.
Beasts that roam and stalk the veins,
Things that tear and rip the brains.

    Rearing up its ugly head,
You can't run, it'll tear you to shreds.
It feels no remorse for the sins I've laid,
It's lies have killed, but by my mouth made.

A struggle within, my eyes have cleared,
The strings that bound me finally sheared.
A wooden boy brought to life,
Now a man in a skin of strife.

    Come along won't you dare?
There is nothing more to fear.
The beasts are gone, lost in the past,
Their threats drifting empty and vast.

Wow, strong imagery, cleverly done! I will admit I am more than a little relieved to see hopeful prospects for your friend. ( Be gone ye monsters and beasties!) Thanks for sharing

This poem was based off of a friends drug addiction.

I most heart fully sorry to sound as if I was trivializing the pain of addition. As there are those close to me that have also been afflicted. Good luck to your friend.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
