Poem Commentary

This write came to me after having a conversation with a woman that lost her husband in war.

" Send our troops back home."

My Soldier.

I can feel the miles
Stretched out across
Open roads...

Across a cold black ocean
That leads to a hot
Desert Sun.

There stands my soldier
Here is his women
Waiting for him
To come back home

I place a kiss on the letter
Just before I tuck it away
Inside those white folded pockets...
A picture of my round belly

Praying that hope gets there on time
Please handle this package with care...
Until he's back here safely in my arms

There Stands my Soldier
Here cries his women
Waiting for him
To come back home

I hang up the telephone
Place a tearful kiss on our new born son
I gave him your first name...

When he gets older I will keep
my promise. I will tell him about you,
his father, My soldier...

There Stands my soldier
Up there in heaven
Down here remains his unrestful woman...

Trying to carry on without him
