    My Sunflower

Majestically you stand out from your class
As your florets suffuse the air with fragrance
Radiantly and invitingly for me to inhale
True to me, your value goes beyond that yellow
Heliotropically you turn to love, and rise too
Acquire and tender all things that please you

Many seasons passed, numerous trials you overcame
Only to simplify complexity of my lifetime
The beauty which springs from natural power
Once and forever, you are my sunflower

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
