    My Tears

I keep telling myself there are
    No more tears to cry
I keep trying to tell myself
That I will be all right
And for a while I can almost
    Convince myself it’s true
But then I stop, reflect, and think
And my heart’s once more blue

I keep telling myself that I’ve
    No need to pity me
I keep trying to tell myself
That one day I’ll find peace
But I can’t quite convince myself
    And tears begin to fall
And soon I’m wondering why I
    Even bother at all

I keep telling myself there are
    No more tears to cry
I keep asking myself “what’s wrong
With me?” and then I sigh
And shrug my shoulders, “what’s the point?”
    For I will never rise
Above this awful cloud of gloom
    My tears will never dry

I keep telling myself that I’ve
    No need to pity me
I keep trying to tell myself
That one day I’ll find peace
And for a while I can almost
    Convince myself it’s true
But then I stop, reflect, and think
And my heart’s once more blue

I keep telling myself there are
    No more tears to cry
I keep trying to tell myself
That I will be all right
But I can’t quite convince myself
    And tears begin to fall
And soon I’m wondering why I
    Even bother at all
