My Time in the Desert

Poem Commentary

Wondering around in a desert

My Time in the Desert

Dry.
The rain, I know
Is coming,
But I don't know when.

This ground is broken.
These cracks,
Go deep.
Let the rain come soon.

It is in shadows,
That I walk.
But above shadows,
Are clouds.

Clouds.
Bringers of rain.
I've waited for the dark, for
With it comes pitter patter.

Organized, prioritized,
The water and the drought.
I wait with dry, chapped lips,
While the drips and the drops grow nearer.

Scorching heat, and deep
Bone fractures.
These clefts go far,
Far into the heart.

Yet, these
Clouds
Bring rain.
Let the water come.

And if,
The rain won't fall.
Catch this life on fire!
