    No Touring In The Hood

To everyone who've ever seen a miami post card, a miami greeting card, or commercials where they show beautiful beaches, wonfderful people, and a sexy exotic night life, i apologize to you. You see your not getting the full miami experience. Do yourself a favor, head south about 15 minutes, over the bridge and pass star island. Where all of a sudden those beautiful beaches turn into a sidewalk covered with pieces of hair weave, trash, and used condoms. Where that exotic night life turns into a night where all you can hear is dogs barking, babies crying, gun shots, and the sound of a three year old getting a beating because he didnt finish eating his food. A place where those wonderful people turn into a person with a head full of dreads that look like trees, gold teeth, saging jeans, and a stolen ring. Thats the real miami. I dont see tourist touring around in the porken bean projects, I dont see nobody taking family photos in overtown, and i damn sure dont see anyone calling their families at home saying "Honey you have to come to lil-haiti". AINT NO TOURING IN THE HOOD. Bitch im from a place where women think its attractive to walk around showing their ass crack, where young men get tatoos on their beautiful black faces and wonder why they cant get a job, a place where the only way you can get a girl is if you have the big rims, about 6 tvs, beat out, and a 100.000 dollar paint job. Come tour in a place where making eye contact with a person for to long can be fatal, a place where mothers show their love to their children by beating them then getting on the phone saying " GGIIRRLL I JUST HAD TO BEAT HIS ASS" Home of the crackheads and coach roaches. There are more people with dreads here then in kingston! so the next time you are out in miami playing in the water, soaking up the sun rays, ask your tour guied to take you to robin hood and see what they say. THERE AINT NO TOURING IN THE HOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
