    one day

    One day
I was in the street when I felt a shove
    That changed my life forever
That person looked back at me
I caught a glimpse of the pain that they feel
    I don’t understand

Why are these people marching to a fate they don’t know?
    What will become of them?
Their cries filled the streets as the anguish grew
    Closer and closer they came
    Gutting me to the core
    I don’t understand

I stood on the edge looking in
Their arms in the air punching, hoping, praying
Their chants filled the early morning
As the crowd gathered in strength
    I don’t understand

A young person looked at me then
His eyes were older then his face
    They had seen horrors that
I could only begin to comprehend
He asked why I wasn’t with them
I didn’t no what to say
Is this what they go through?
    All by themselves?
    I don’t understand

Laying his hand in mine he pulled me along
Now I was on the inside looking out
Feeling the suffering, the torment, the agony
    I had run away
    Now I stand to fight
We will pull through, but not alone
    Now I understand

    Palestinians and Israelites
Is peace that hard with out bloodshed, without sorrow?
Can we find that better world?
    One day.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
