    Paths Uncrossed

    Why the measured steps?
Why stare and not seem to see?
    Those furtive glances betray.
    Your hushed voice deafens.

    Inner smiles of things past,
Creep out the crook of your lips.
    The deep sighs hide not,
    The turmoil of sinful abandon.

I went back where the sea beckoned,
Where the rocks caressed our toes.
    The sandcastles were all gone.
    The birds’ feeding was done.

    The tides kiss the rocks,
While the sun takes to slumber,
The ball of red dips the line,
    The sea takes the embers.

    Those days seemed eternally gone,
    And paths have been uncrossed.
Go, take the road where my feet don’t tread.
Go seek a strange song- of jesters lost.

Tarry not, go forth without delay.
My mind is set, my heart stilled.
The journey ahead is yours, not ours.
Time was shared but dreams unfulfilled.
