    Perfect World

In a perfect world you would not have gone away, we could still talk to you everyday.

In a perfect world you would not have to be missed, we could give you one last hug and a kiss.

In a perfect world we would have been able to say goodbye, even though the whole time we would cry.

However we do not live in a perfect world as you do now, always happy with no sign of pain across your brow.

You look down on us from heaven above, full of light and the purest of love.

So in our hearts we will keep you near, until the trumpets we too hear.

And you smiling in a perfect world will wait, to walk us through the golden gates.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
