Since 1980 I have been involved with the documentation and preservation of Native American historic and cultural sites with a particular emphasis on Kiowa historic and cultural sites. I plan one day soon to produce a book on Kiowa History.

Prior to '95 I was a fledging writer and poet and had works published locally. In '95 I experienced personal emotional trauma which destroyed my passion and inspiration to write. Subsiquently, I became the literary equivalent of the "walking dead" and didn't write anything for five years. I began visiting a historic site which my people the Kiowa had mentioned in the oral traditions. After five years the spirit of this site eventually restored the inspiration to write back to me.

I gained a deeper understand what "sacred sites" mean spiritually to my Kiowa ancestors and what they mean to other tribal groups.

My first entry for Original Poetry is entitled "O' Hueco Tanks" which was written at Hueco Tanks State Historic Site in 2000. It may be a bit corny but hey! I was writing again.
