My poetry is very personal to me. They are a story of the journey my life has taken. They also portray my wishes, my thoughts and mess I call my mind. At many times in my life, my poetry has saved my life by being an outlet for my emotions. So people look at my poetry and think I am “emo” or endorse self-mutilization. This is not the case. How many authors have used their writing to get out the turmoil in their heads? I also believe that my poetry can touch people and let them know they are not alone. It touches people who are drug addicts, in recovery or not. It touches people who have been victims and survivors of abuse. Parents and grandparents alike also relate to the poetry about my children. Then just as an added touch, who can resist poetry about fun and silliness?
