    Pray Away the Gray

    Basic job, good love, and busier than I want to be,
    the American dream, I know some died to keep me free.
    I am a patriot and my most important job is Dad.
    Even the little things that force your smile make me glad,
    but the storm cloud has closed in, it has already rained the 40 nights,
    and I woke up this morning with no end in my sights.
    Am I that broken; no way I could count my mistaken;
    any one of the millions could earn me the title 'God's Forsaken',
    but i am doin my best and I still can't get out my own way.
    For this Lord I fold my hands and pray.

    The end of another long one, I'm feelin like my songs been sung;
    pinch me I'm dreamin, my voice isn't screamin, no ringing in my head.
    Just peace, no clouds, laughter instead,
    It feels so easy now, it shouldn't be hard to fight the gray,
    but sometimes it tkaes work to learn how to play,
    and for this Lord, I fold my hands and pray.

    I see the damage, the yin in every yang,
    so I learn to see the good and give thanks for my gang,
    and the relationship I've built with the man upstairs has helped the happy to stay,
    and for this Lord I fold my hands and pray.
