Poem Commentary

I should have been studying while writing this *coughs*

Procrastination

Procrastination,
such a wonderous word;
- to cover, to shade, to hide
that everlasting sense of limbo
Tea Cup, dear Tea Cup, how you need refilling
Letter, dear Letter, how you need mailing
I sort my clothes,
my notes; my half-forgotten post-its
all arranged in their own little orders and schemes.
And I fret about deadlines and time-guides and goals needing to be reached
- all while doing my best to halter my progress,
stop dead in my shoes.

Inspiration,
such a wonderous word;
- to aim for, to chase, to stride
towards that winning combo
Muse, dear Muse, you are not forthcoming
Structure, dear Structure, you are not supporting
I skim the pages,
the words; my future of merits
all arranged in their own little titles and themes
And I feel myself hitting a wall that seems will never be breached
- as I have not seen even the shadow of prowess,
as far as proper work goes.

This was a really enjoyable piece that i can easily relate to, being a very laid-back (read lazy) person. 10 from me! :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels the relation. Nor the only one to cover up lazyness with other, more flattering terms ;) Thank you very much. :)

"...shoadow of prowess ..." jumped off the page and into my head. moments of brilliance in this poem and fun to reflect.

Thank you so very much :) I didn't see any of it as brilliance myself, but it is very, very nice to hear from fellow poets. :)

Thank you so much! What a great and positive first comment to receive on this site. :)

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
