Searching

In with a swish,
out with a swoosh
And we clutter up each others' emotional shelves,
clawing for territory
- you must give me meaning
Searching forever for that magical moment,
time, opportunity when,
we're the most important thing in each other's world
- you really must give me meaning
And so we dance through each other's lives
sometimes treading so lightly, ever so lightly,
that we do not notice the lack of presence untill
names are halfway forgotten
- you could not give me meaning
And so I start climbing another ladder,
another pyramid of acquaintance
Swishing through titles and bonds and memories,
trying to find a final place to land.

A strong sense of longing and bittersweet regret spreads as i work my way through this. Powerful.

That special someone that will fill us and make us whole can be very elusive.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
