    Professor on a Perch

    High above a hallowed ground
    Hastened to profess his sound
    His academic prowess abound

A tailored suit of feathers starched
Black tie with tails affair in larch
    Breast replete, back is arched

    Traipsing with presumptuous gaze
    Traversing the networked vertical maze
    Commencing in melodic phrase

    Mimicked song varies not
    A rhythmic form, absent thought
    Echoes through the wooded wrought

    A composer in his intellect
    Sans appendage to direct
Students hidden in each crooked neck

    Completing his requisite call
    He leaps, diving into free-fall
    Gliding, leveling, wings a'sprawl
