This day, I leave behind, my past filled with death.
And I awake on the other side of the grass,
Where God has graced me yet another breath.
I’m not worthy of this second chance,
To free myself from evil spirits,
And from the awful doubts of maybe’s and cants.
I’m not proud of the life that I’m laying down to rest,
For in that, flesh lived above the spiritual realm
And I felt lost and torn as I failed every test.
I’m not sure of the future that lies before me
But all I have is this moment, right now, to grasp eternity.
If tomorrow never comes to shine its glistening light
Regardless, I know I made this vow tonight.
To keep my flesh separate from the spirit and mind
And let God and my heart forever intertwine.
I may not be perfect in the eyes of man,
But what truly counts is my will to say I can
Stay pure and wait till I meet my mate,
And God, to me, has revealed my fate.
I’m taking a step out in faith
To be showered with love and knowledge that I’m safe
Safe in the arms with the Holy One as my guide
And know that when He comes, my place is by His side.
From today on, I’m going to stay focused on Him no matter the case,
Because in my heart I know, that true love waits.
