Queen Of Hearts

Poem Commentary

to Jack, who crowned me his Queen of Hearts in August 2007

Queen Of Hearts

I am the fairest in the land
The one who owns the sea
The pink flamingos in my hand
Will seldom bother me

Either slightly curving at the top
Or pulsing bleeding red
I'll redirect you with the crown
Atop my royal head

You may still love me now and then
But while we are apart
I'll love you now and forever still
Your loyal Queen of Hearts

This is a beautiful poem. It's interesting that you speak about love and reference Alice in Wonderland. The two are similar. Great Job!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
