Remember Me

Tonight as I lay me down

I find myself kneeling to pray

Lord,I know I haven't done this in awhile,

I don't know ,but do you remember me?

I feel so lost at sea,I'm about to drown,

Please shine a light, help me find the way,

The pain inside is so deep, that it hurts to smile,

Oh Lord, please, do you remember me?

I feel so samll in this great big world,

Like waves of mercy just can't reach me,

I'm still your little girl,

Please, Lord, please calm the sea,

I know your busy right now,

Lord, please show me your here with me,

You moved the mountains,

And parted the sea,

You made all creation stand still,

Lord,do you remember me?

Lord,it's sometimes hard to see your plan,

But that's when patience must endure,

I must hold steady to you never changing hand,

And in time I am sure,

You will lead me out of this dark time,

But Lord, I can't help but ask,

Do you remember me?

It's been said to me,

Everything you go through, all the test's,

God has laid before you,

In his eye's are beautiful things,

Lord, I am trying to understand,

Forgive me if I fail to see,

The beauty through all of my pain.

So here I am at the foot of the cross,

Handing over my doubts and fears,

Learning all over to trust and obey,

So tonight Lord,all I ask,

As you watch over the world...

Please remember me.

AMEN!!

I think most people will see the beauty here, whatever their religious experience or background. Beauty on any level, is difficult to get across with the written word. There are many cliches, overused metaphors, andwholly unoriginal ideas swimming in the minds of even the most experienced writers. You've shied away from the tired, and tried and true, and for that I applaud you. This is an absolutely beautiful and lyrical poem, and my personal favorite (so far) of yours. Another effortless 10...or would you prefer a Roman Numeral X?

Poetry is what is lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
