    Remember that Monday When

    Remember that Monday When
    you went to work
    you brushed your teeth
    you wrote a note
    you paid a bill
    you drove your car
    you ate a lunch
    you combed your hair
    you washed some clothes

    Remember the mundane
    the taken for granted moments

Remember the last time you lit a cigarette
    Remember your last drink?

Now, as if you are in a jail cell
    or needing a wheel chair
    you live differently
    in a psychiatric hospital

    Remembering Mondays
while watching your own clock tick by

    No routines
No moments to look forward to
    Endless hours
    Pacing

But you'll remember these Mondays then
    for what they aren't.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
